Any applicable prices, billing periods and additional conditions will be clearly displayed before a user agrees to purchase or subscribe to a paid service.
2. Membership
Certain Brickstone Books content may require users to create a free membership account.
When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login details secure.
Membership accounts are intended for personal use only and should not be shared with others unless Brickstone Books expressly permits this.
Brickstone Books reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are being misused, used unlawfully, used to redistribute content, or otherwise used in breach of these Terms.
3. Age Requirements
Users aged 16 years or older may create and manage their own Brickstone Books membership, subject to applicable law.
Users under the age of 16 should access Brickstone Books only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
Some individual audiobooks or productions may contain mature themes, violence, historical attitudes, frightening material or other content that may not be suitable for younger listeners.
Where appropriate, Brickstone Books may provide content notices or recommended audience guidance for individual productions.
Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding whether particular Brickstone Books content is suitable for children in their care.
4. Audiobook Content
Brickstone Books offers a mixture of original content and works based upon literature that is in the public domain.
Where Brickstone Books records a public-domain literary work, the underlying original text may be free from copyright restrictions in applicable jurisdictions.
However, the Brickstone Books recording, narration, production, editing, sound design, artwork, branding, introductions and other original production elements may be separately protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.
Public-domain status of an underlying book does not give users permission to copy, redistribute or commercially exploit a Brickstone Books recording of that book.
5. Copyright and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the original audio recordings, productions, adaptations, retellings, artwork, graphics, branding, written introductions, descriptions and other original material available through Brickstone Books are owned by or licensed to Brickstone Books.
Your membership gives you a limited right to access and listen to the content for personal, non-commercial use.
You may not, without prior written permission:
- Copy or reproduce Brickstone Books audio recordings
- Download content except where a download option is specifically provided
- Redistribute, upload or share Brickstone Books recordings elsewhere
- Sell, sublicense or commercially exploit Brickstone Books content
- Repackage Brickstone Books recordings as your own
- Upload recordings to another audiobook, podcast, video or streaming service
- Remove copyright notices, branding or identifying information
- Use Brickstone Books content to create unauthorised derivative commercial products
Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict lawful use of an underlying public-domain literary work.
6. Artificial Intelligence and Digital Production
Brickstone Books embraces modern production technology while respecting the authors, stories and literary works upon which many of its productions are based.
Artificial intelligence and other digital tools may be used during certain stages of production.
Depending upon the individual production, these technologies may assist with areas such as:
- Voice or narration production
- Audio processing and enhancement
- Editing and mastering
- Artwork and promotional imagery
- Research assistance
- Drafting or adaptation assistance
- Production workflows
The extent to which AI-assisted technology is used may vary between productions.
Where Brickstone Books presents an original public-domain work, every reasonable effort is made to preserve the integrity of the source material unless the production is specifically identified as a retelling, adaptation, abridgement or other modified version.
AI-assisted production does not change the ownership of Brickstone Books’ original recordings, production work, branding or other protectable material.
7. Public-Domain Works
Brickstone Books may produce recordings of works believed to be in the public domain in the jurisdiction relevant to the production.
Copyright laws and public-domain status can differ between countries.
Brickstone Books does not guarantee that every underlying literary work is free of copyright restrictions in every country or territory.
Users are responsible for complying with the laws applicable in their own jurisdiction if they reproduce or otherwise independently use an underlying public-domain text.
This does not grant permission to reproduce Brickstone Books’ own recordings or production elements.
8. Streaming and Personal Use
Unless otherwise expressly stated, Brickstone Books membership provides access to content for private listening and personal entertainment.
Access to an audiobook does not transfer ownership of the recording to the member.
Brickstone Books may add, remove, replace, update or reorganise content within its library from time to time.
We cannot guarantee that every audiobook or production will remain permanently available.
9. Future Paid Memberships
Brickstone Books is currently offered as a free membership service, but paid membership options may be introduced in the future.
If paid services are introduced:
- Prices will be displayed before purchase
- Users will be informed whether payments are one-off or recurring
- Any recurring subscription frequency will be clearly stated
- Applicable cancellation arrangements will be provided
- Existing free members will not automatically be charged simply because a paid membership option is introduced
A user must actively agree to any applicable paid subscription or purchase.
Additional terms may apply to future paid products or memberships.
